Why I dislike (hate) the word "RESULTS"

We’ve all seen the commercials…. “Women saw results in as little as 10 days!” Really!? 10 days? Well, okay, what KIND of results are we talking about here? If they saw results from a store bought Neutrogena product or a Cetaphil product (don’t even get me started on a Cetaphil rant) and saw “results” in a week? Well then, I have to ask…what the *heck* were you using on your face before this?! Maybe these women were not even cleansing or moisturizing and when they finally used something, well, yes then, they were probably amazed at how soft their skin was or how clean & moisturized it now felt.

But RESULTS, RESULTS? That takes a little more time & commitment my dear, skin loving, girlfriends!

So often I get, “Ok, let’s do it!!……but when will I see results?” And I understand, believe me, I do! I struggle through one day without sugar and I am like, I should probably be bikini ready now, right? So I get it! We all want it like yesterday! However, as we know, everyone is different, we all have different skin types and conditions. The skin is an organ and it takes time to rebuild and to heal and to regenerate.

That is why Micropeels, SkinPen, lasers and anti aging facials are often bundled in a series or packages. To work the skin out over time. I have heard from many women after one SkinPen or laser treatment, shrug and say, “Well, I didn’t notice any difference!” And most times that is a week or so after the treatment. It can take up 90 days for ONE treatment to be working underneath the surface. In a sense, we have to cause a slight injury and break down to rebuild and regenerate all the components of the skin (think weight lifting…breaking down muscles to rebuild them). And in after care of these treatments, we add in peels or home care products and they also need to accumulate and work together over time to smooth out those wrinkles, firm the skin, lighten those dark spots. The results are there, I promise you! They may seem slight at the time, but results are accumulative, it ALL works together for the greater good!

So let us put aside the word RESULTS as a finish line word! It just may be that you see some results in as little as 10 days, but it is just the very first, beautiful glimpse of what is yet to come, in your skin care journey!
